I hope you visit this website periodically to stay connected and /or informed.
Thank you for visiting this website to learn about the community of Civano. I hope you come back periodically because I go through phases of high energy and creativity which results in new pages, or a reorganization of previously designed pages.
In June 2025 I added a new page called Neighbors Care Program. This program called, "Civano 1 Neighbors Helping Neighbors" is now official. Click on the 2nd menu item above to learn more. This is a program organized by Civano residents, with Civano Volunteers, to provide help to older Civano residents. It is associated with the Pima Council On Aging (PCOA). Come back often because as with all new programs, new information is available, updates happen, and the program develops, changes, and/or expands.
Please use the contact section below if you have questions about the community of Civano or navigating my website. Stay Healthy, Be Kind, and Enjoy Life.

Click on the link below to learn more about the types of assistance your neighborhood volunteers are willing to provide.

This Speaker Series is being offered free of charge to residents of Civano 1 by the non-profit, grass-roots organization called Sustainable Tucson. To learn more about the non-profit organization called Sustainable Tucson, click on the button below:

“Waste Not, Want Not. Reducing Food Waste in Your Home”

“Reducing Single-Use Plastic Products in Your Daily Life”
Speaker: Kevin Greene
Single-use plastic items offer convenience but create significant environmental impacts. This presentation shares simple, practical steps you can take to cut disposables at home and on the go.
More About Speaker:
Kevin Greene’s career in the environmental arena spans almost 30 years including 20 years at the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. In 2025, he launched the website stopwastetucson.org which offers information and tools to help reduce waste and encourage sustainability in the region.
“Water in the Desert”
Speaker: Dan Stormont
Learn about the history of water in the Sonoran Desert, the current threats and opportunities related to water supplies, and how you can reduce your use at home. This presentation will get you started on the path to being “hydro local” (living with our available water here in Tucson without relying on external water sources)
More About the Speaker:
Dan Stormont is the Tucson Regional Manager for TEALs, a Microsoft Philanthropies program that connects industry professionals with high school teachers to bring computer science into Tucson schools. He is a docent at the Watershed Management Group, a local non-profit that provides education, restoration and policy leadership to protect and restore local watersheds.
“Ditch the Gas at Home. It’s Better for your Health and Your Planet”
Speaker: Gordon Nuttall
Electrifying your home is key to mitigating harm to the environment at the same time that it empowers and enables all of us to remove carbon from our energy diet. This presentation will provide you with a guide to electrifying your home and the available resources to help you in doing so.
More About the Speaker:
Gordon Nuttall moved to Tucson in 2020 from Colorado after retiring from the startup business he founded. In Colorado, he was also the VP of the Land Stewardship Advisory Board for Larimer County. After moving to Tucson he became a Naturalist at the Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, hoping to influence the future by interpreting nature for elementary school students.
This Speaker Series is being coordinated by a Civano homeowner and a volunteer from Sustainable Tucson. Email Lyndy at ak2az4ever@gmail.com with any questions. She will try her best to answer your questions in a timely manner.
